‘Randamoozham’ row: Shrikumar to return script to MT Vasudevan Nair
Kochi: ‘Odiyan’ fame director VA Shrikumar has resolved the dispute with writer MT Vasudevan Nair over ‘Randamoozham’ movie. Shrikumar will return the script to the veteran writer. Settling the dispute, MT will return the amount of Rs 1.25 crore which he received as an advance payment from the director.
As per the agreement, Shrikumar will not make movie based on ‘Randamoozham’ or 'Bheema' as a central character.
In the background of the settlement in the case, Shrikumar has submitted a request to withdraw the petition filed against MT Vasudevan Nair. The plea will be considered on Monday. Once, MT withdraws the petition filed by him, at the Kozhikode Municipal Court, the settlement treaty between the duo will come into force.
Responding to the settlement, MT revealed his happiness on the director for agreeing to his demand.
MT and Shrikumar signed a contract to make a film on ‘Randamoozham’ in 2014. As per the contract, the movie was scheduled to be completed within 3 years. Even after extending the period for one more year, the filmmaker failed to execute the movie project.
Following this MT Vasudevan Nair approached the court seeking action against the director for violating the contract. In his plea, he requested the court to restrict production of the film based on his novel and expressed willingness to return the advance amount.
