Kochi: 'Laila in Haifa', a 2020 Israeli - French drama directed by Amos Gitai, received good audience applause when it was screened as part of the World Cinema category at the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK), on Sunday.
The film narrates the tale that unfolds in a bar that serves as a microcosm of the city. Over the course of a single, diverse communities come together. The people in the bar finally end up engaging in risky, uncomfortable, extramarital sex.
Laila in Haifa portrays women who are totally dissatisfied with their family lives, and go in search of other pleasures. However, even as they look for pleasure, they fail to find a better world where they can be happier.
