'Drishyam' becomes first Malayalam movie to get an Indonesian remake
Mohanlal-Jeethu Joseph movie, Drishyam has become the first Malayalam movie to get an Indonesian remake.
The movie that was released in 2013 had already been remade into several languages including Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi, Sinhala, and Chinese.
The Indonesian remake is being made eight years after the release of the movie.
Drishyam remake was named Papanasam in Tamil, Drishya in Kannada. Drishyam in Telugu and Hindi, Dharmayuddhaya in Sinhalese and Sheep without a shepherd in Chinese.
The second part of the movie, Drishyam 2 was released in February in 2021 on the OTT platform. The second part was a major hit and plans are underway to create remakes of the second part in other languages.
The movie was produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner of Aashirvad Cinemas and stars Meena, Ansiba, Esther, Siddique, and Asha Sarath.
