Mollywood star Saiju Kurup, who completed 16 years in the industry, is excited about his 100th movie ‘Upacharpoorvam Gunda Jayan’. The actor made his acting debut with ‘Mayookham’ directed by Hariharan in 2005.
After making his debut as a hero, Saiju impressed the audience in various roles including villain and comedian.
Saiju will play the title role in the upcoming movie ‘Upacharapoorvam Gunda Jayan’. He released the first look poster of this movie on the occasion of his birthday.
Saiju opened up about his 16 years' long career in Mollywood at the location of his new movie in Malappuram.
“I’m really happy that I got the opportunity to play the title role in my 100th movie. Apart from that, I am super excited to be part of the project as Dulquer is producing and distributing the movie. It is a complete family entertainer,” said Saiju.
“My character Gunda Jayan is a family man. Once, he was a notorious gunda in the village. Though he turned a family man, everyone is afraid of him due to his short-tempered nature,” the actor revealed his character.
16-years- long career in film industry
I really enjoyed my journey in the industry. I learned many things. I dared to try my luck in acting without having any film background. Honestly speaking, I didn’t participate in any cultural programmes while studying in school or college. But, now I hold the experience of 99 films. I have struggled a lot in the industry. But I consider every struggle as an experience. We should overcome such challenges to become a well-polished personality. So far, I am not a polished actor. But I think, the period in the industry will polish me as a better actor,” said Saiju.
‘Mayookham’ is my favourite
Out of the 99 movies, Unni Kesavan in ‘Mayookham’, my debut movie is my favourite character. Personally, I love to play serious roles. Because playing a comic role is a herculean task. With the blessings of God, I got the opportunity to play both type of characters.
‘Mohankumar Fans’, ‘Meppadiyan’, ‘Nizhal’, ‘Lalitham Sundaram’, ‘Prakasan Parakkatte’, ‘Aarkkariyam’, Anvar Rasheed’s untitled film and Shane Nigam’s next are his upcoming movies.
