Mamangam is not a 'Baahubali-like' movie, says director Padmakumar
Megastar Mammotty will be seen in Mollywood’s all-time big budget multilingual movie ‘Mamangam’ directed by M Padmakumar. In an interview with Mathrubhumi, the director revealed more details about the movie.
“Following the advertisements and news reports, I think people are expecting a movie like ‘Baahubali’. But I would like to confirm that ‘Mamangam’ is completely different from the ‘Baahubali’ style. We cannot even think about making such a movie in Malayalam,” said the director responding to the rumours comparing his movie with 'Baahubali'.
Mamangam will be a war film which made within the limits of Mollywood by serving justice to history, he added.
The director noted that his movie will entertain the viewers with a story of romance, war, and revenge.
“I would like to address the movie as an emotional thriller,” said Padmakumar.
Plot of Mamangam
The Zamorin is not the hero of the movie. Mamangam portrays the story of the suicide-squad which is a group of warriors called ‘Chaverpada’.
“You won’t see a hero who survives from any adversities. Mamangam will feature the life in a period which justifies history,” said the director.
Mammootty has played the role of legendary characters in movies like ‘Pazhassi Raja’ and ‘Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha’. But compared to these films, his character is very different in Mamangam. His role will surprise the audience, Padmakumar hinted.
Unni Mukundan is playing the role of Chandroth Panicker, another important character in the movie. Former Baseball star Prachi Tehlan, Kaniha, Anu Sithara and Iniya will be seen in female lead roles.
Mamangam will be another period drama starring Mammootty after ‘Pazhassi Raja’.
Screenplay and dialogues are penned by Shankar Ramakrishnan. Venu Kunnappilly is producing the movie under the banner of Kavya Films. Manoj Pillai has cranked the camera.
The movie will be released in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
