Lena talks about 20 yrs in film industry
Actress Lena is enjoying her career as an actress since 20 years in the industry. From Jayaram-starrer Sneham to Vikram-starrer Kadaram Kondan, the actress has completed 100 movies in her career. She has won the hearts of the audience with several bold and powerful characters. In an interview with Chithrabhumi, Lena revealed her aspirations as an actress.
100 movies in 20 years
“After counting from 1 to 100 we will tend to repeat it. I am experiencing such a feeling now. I am really happy to complete 100 movies in my career. But apart from that, I am thinking about unique roles in my future,” said the passionate actor.
Lena made her acting debut with Sneham at the age of 16. Even after completing 20 years in the industry, she looks young like a newcomer.
“Honestly speaking, now I feel I am young. When I made my debut, I looked too old than my real age. Five years back, I used to play roles which are mature and older than me. But now, my roles make me too young and confident,” said the actress.
‘Lady Mammootty’ in Mollywood
Lena’s stylish appearance has resulted in the nickname ‘Lady Mammootty’. Responding to this, she stated that the title sprang from a mistake in a website.
“My age in a website was noted as 49. I think people started to call me as ‘Lady Mammootty’ afetr finding my age as 49. I am only 38 years old and I was born in 1981. So, I believe, this title is not suitable for me,” said the star.
Roles of cop and mother in career
Lena found cop roles very easy to portray.
“Being a single woman, I am well experienced with a tough lifestyle. I think my lifestyle made me compatible with the cop roles,” said Lena.
“I found life as various phases. In one phase, I played the roles of mother. But I think, I am not apt to play such roles any more. My appearance is not suitable for such roles," she added.
About Himalayan trip
Lena decided to go on a Himalayan trip after completing 20 years in movie industry. She stated that the two months-long life in the Himalayas changed her a lot.
“It was a fresh experience. I started a new life from that trip,” Lena noted.
The story behind the shaved head
From childhood, I wished to shave off my head. But my family never let me do it as it is not practised among girls. So finally, I fulfilled my long-time fish after visiting Palani,” Lena disclosed the secret.
Lena impressed her audience recently with her performance in Fahadh Faasil-starrer Athiran and Vikram-starrer Kadaram Kondan. Black Coffee, the sequel to Salt and Pepper and Jayasurya-starrer Aneshwanam are her upcoming movies.
Also, Lena will play the female lead in ‘Oru Rathri Oru Pakal’. She will be seen in the role of a 78-year-old woman in the movie. The shooting of the movie is in the last phase.
