Happy to work with Mohanlal, says Prithviraj
Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran who proved his skills as a best actor is set to make his signature as a producer and director in the film industry. Prithviraj turned an independent producer with his latest movie 9. Now, Prithvi made his directorial debut with Mohanlal starrer Lucifer.
Talking to Mathrubhumi, he expressed his happiness to direct a movie starring superstar Mohanlal.
“I became close with Lalettan when we started working for Lucifer. Having the opportunity to work with him is a great pleasure,” said Prithviraj.
Sometimes, I'm forced to take multiple takes of a scene with Lalettan due to issues in camera movements, out of focus issue and so on. When we shoot a scene with the crowd, the camera sometimes fails to capture the whole activity. During such times, we take about 13 or 14 takes. But as a matured and dedicated actor, Mohanlal was not upset in such situations and he was always ready to act, Prithvi shared his experience with Mohanlal.
Whenever I requested him for a retake, Lalettan always says, “Why not, we will go for another take." He is really a legendary actor, said Prithvi.
Responding about his directorial debut, Prithivraj said he successfully completed Lucifer as planned.
“I was lucky to have a producer and crew who understand my emotions for the movie,” said Prithviraj.
Expectations about ‘9’
‘9’ is a completely different genre. This fact influenced me to produce the movie under the banner of Prithviraj Productions. I think I can give a fresh experience to the audience with the movie, said the actor. The movie has elements of a science fiction, horror and psychological thriller.
Prithviraj plays the role of astrophysicist named Albert Louis. The movie portrays some characters and incidents which took place in his life during 9 days in connection with a global event.
The style of shooting and locations made the movie more special. VFX is also used efficiently in the movie.
About 17-year-long career
Explaining about his career, Prithvi pointed out that he has no qualms about the industry.
“I think star kids, including me, survive in the industry because of our skills. Being part of a family of actors, we would be able to find one or two films in the early days of our career. But to survive in the industry, we must prove our skills. I believe all the star kids who continue in the industry are best actors,” said Prithviraj.
But I should admit that star kids like me have not struggled much for a chance in movies. I got a chance in Nandanam because I am the son of a popular actor. But after that, I got offers as the directors found I have the potential to act, he added.
