IFFK 2015: Suvarna Chakoram for Jayaraj's 'Ottaal'
Thiruvananthapuram: Ottaal, directed by Jayaraj, won the Suvarna Chakoram (Golden Crow Pheasant) at the 20th International Film Festival of Kerala.
Ottaal also won three more honours _ the NETPAC, FIPRESCI and the audience poll awards.
This is for the first time a Malayalam movie is bagging the Suvarna Chakoram.
Jun Robles Lana won the Rajatha Chakoram (Silver Crow Pheasant) award for the best director for Shadows Behind the Moon.'
The award for best Malayalam film went to Sanalkumar Sasidharan’s “Ozhivu Divasathe Kali.’
Abu Shahed Emon (Jalal’s Story) was adjudged the best debut director while Yona from Israel directed by Nir Bergman bagged the award for Best Asian Film.
K G George won FEFKA’s Master’s award.
A jury headed by Brazilian director Julio Bressane selected the winners.
M P Muralikrishnan of Mathrubhumi won the award for best print media reporting while the award for best audio-visual- media went to Club FM.
Governor P Sathasaivam presented the awards at the closing ceremony held at the Nishagandhi auditorium here. Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Leader of Opposition V S Achuthanandan were also present.
Earlier, Ottaal was adjudged the best film when the Kerala State Film Awards 2014 were announced.
