Kozhikode: Actor Surabhi Lakshmi said her movie ‘Minnaminungu’ would have a blockbuster hit at the box office if all those people who vied to take selfies with her had watched the movie.

Speaking at the valedictory function of the ‘Arabian Frames’ Shortfilm Festival at the Town Hall here, the National Award-winning actress said she felt deep gratitude towards those who watch the movie.

“It is pitiful that we have to plead before people to watch an award-winning movie,” she said. “Sometimes, I even regret winning an award,” the actress added.

“If those directors, who made me act in short films without remuneration, had watched the movie, it would have run in theatres for one more day,” Surabhi said.

The actress said she is now getting a number of calls from directors, saying the role they are offering will surely fetch an award for her.

Surabhi said though she had acted in 46 movies before ‘Minnaminungu’, it was for this movie that she got the script in hands for the first time.

“Often, I have thought of quitting the film field. But exactly at that point, I will get some work. Now I have decided to stay here for at least 60 years,” Surabhi said.

The valedictory function was inaugurated by film director Salim Ahammed. Mayor Thottathil Raveendran presided over the function. Festival director and actor Raveendran, actress Divya Prabha and actor Aakash spoke on the occasion.
