Social media rumours on continuous bank holidays are baseless
Kottayam: Social media rumours that banks will function only on two days from March 27 to April 4 are not true. The rumours keep spreading that the banks will be closed continuously during these days. However, the banking transactions will take place as normal on the last three working days of March.
As March 27 is fourth Saturday, banks will be closed. March 28 is Sunday which is a holiday. But the banks will be functioning on March 29, 30 and 31 and all transactions will take place.
The rumours that banks will be closed for Holi which falls on March 29 is wrong. This is applicable only for states which celebrate Holi. The banks in Kerala will remain open.
The All India Banking Employees Association (AIBEA) has announced a strike in the Federal Bank on March 31. But this will not affect the day-to-day activities of the bank. Other associations are not taking part in the strike.
The annual closing day on April 1 is a holiday for banks. April 2 is Good Friday which is a bank holiday. But April 3 will be a working day.
