Kerala Soaps plans expansion: Business volume from neighbouring states at 40 %
Kochi: State-owned Kerala Soaps is expanding market with high demand for its products in neighbouring states. At present, business volume from states like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana is 40 per cent.
Kerala Soaps is manufacturing 17 types of soaps. Kerala Sandal Soap is the one which has high demand in nearby states. Notably, 737 tons of soaps worth Rs 10.13 crore were sold in the period between 2020 and 2021. While in this year 410 tons of soaps worth Rs 6.84 crore have been sold until October
Interestingly, despite Covid-19 situation, the enterprise was able to achieve good sales. During the period, demand for sanitizer and hand wash increased. Notably, 45,000 litres of sanitizer were sold in the period between 2020 and 2021. While 21,00 litres of hand wash were produced from 2020 to present.
Kerala Soaps is expecting a sales growth of 15 to 20 per cent this year. As per the figures of October, the turnover is at Rs 8.37 crore. While total turnover during last year was Rs 13.84 crore.
Meanwhile, the administration is planning to resume export of products. At present, exports are in a halted condition due to shortage of containers and high rates. Similarly, the enterprise is planning to expand its market to other states across India.
