Kannur: The Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has given sanction to Air India Express to operate flights to Sharjah from Kannur airport. The first flight to Sharjah will take off from Kannur on December 10, Monday. Kannur International Airport, the fourth airport in Kerala is all set to open on December 9.
The time schedule of flights to Sharjah from Kannur was also approved by DGCA. Air India Express will operate Kannur-Sharjah flights for four days in a week.
The service is scheduled on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 9 in the morning. The flight will land in Sharjah at 11.30 am, local time in UAE, ie 1 pm in India). It will return to Kannur at 12.30 pm and arrive here at 5.40 pm.
Air India will operate maiden flight from Kannur airport to Abu Dhabi on December 9. The flight will take off at 10 am from here. It will return to Kannur at 1.30 pm from Abu Dhabi and land at Kannur airport at 7 pm.
Meanwhile, time schedule of the flights in other days are different from inaugural day.
The flight to Abu Dhabi will conduct service on Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday at 10 am. The flight will land in Abu Dhabi airport at 11.30 am (UAE local time). It will return to Kannur at 12.30 pm (Indian time 2 pm) and arrive here at 6 pm.
Kannur-Riyadh service will be operated on Thursday, Friday and Sunday at 9.05 pm from Kannur airport. The flight will land in Riyadh at 11.30 pm. It will return to Kannur at 12.35 am and arrive Kannur next day at 8 am.
Air India will operate Kannur-Doha service on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday. The flight will take of at 8.20 pm from Kannur and land in Doha at 10 pm (local time). It will return at 11 pm and land Kannur next day at 5.45 am.
