BSNL stops coronavirus audio message as mobile caller tune
Kottakkal: Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) has decided to stop the audio clip on coronavirus as a caller tune of mobile phone users. The move comes after complaints were lodged on the messages causing inconvenience to most of the users.
When dialing a number, the caller first hears the coronavirus message which extends to almost a minute and valuable time is lost. Even when calling for ambulance service, the user hears the audio clip.
BSNL implemented the audio message to create awareness to help disseminate information on the spreading pandemic following the direction from DoT. All Telco companies were directed to incorporate the coronavirus ringing tone.
BSNL decided to stop the audio message on special request forwarded to the Union government but other Telcos cannot avoid this.
