Apply for pension a year before retirement, govt revises order
Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala government has issued an order directing the employees to apply for pension a year before their retirement from service. Earlier, the staff were allowed to apply for pension six months prior to retirement date. This was revised with the new order.
Approval of pension applications are delayed as most of the retiring staff submit their application in the last minute expecting salary revision. However, with the revised order inforce, the employees who submit pension applications at an earlier date will also get all the benefits of salary revision, informed the finance department.
It is examined that many employees delay submission of the pension application expecting that the government will increase the pension age.
As per the revised order, the retiring staff must submit the pension application through the online platform PRISM without waiting for salary revision in future.
