Another flight to Thiruvananthapuram from Kannur soon
Kannur: A new flight service from Kannur International airport to Thiruvananthapuram International airport will start very soon. At present there are three services on Tuesdays and two services on other days. The new service will be provided by GoAir.
The new aeroplane bought by the company will be brought to Kannur and operated in Thiruvananthapuram and Delhi routes. The schedule will be such that the flight will take-off to Thiruvananthapuram from Kannur in the morning and then to Delhi and will return to Kannur from Delhi.
Even though sanction has been obtained for flight service, the delay is caused as the aircraft has not reached.
At present, IndiGo’s 72 seater small aircrafts are conducting services to Thiruvananthapuram resulting in heavy rush. There are two services, at 9.50 am and 8.55 pm from Kannur and from Thiruvananthapuram at 12.55 pm and 8.35 pm. On Tuesdays, there is an additional service from Kannur at 1.15 pm which will return by 4.30 pm.
Services halted; fare hike
GoAir had dropped one services each to Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Chennai which has created problems. As the 180-seater services were dropped, ticket fares for other services skyrocketed. GoAir had dropped one of the two services to Bengaluru and delayed the morning service from Bengaluru at 7.40 am to afternoon.
The company has clarified that there is shortage of aircrafts as it started service to Dammam in Saudi Arabia which resulted in cancelling of three domestic services. The Dammam service was scheduled to start on December 19 and ticket booking had started. But, the bookings were temporarily halted due to some issues regarding permission from Saudi government.
However, all the issues have been resolved and the services will begin from December 19, informed KIAL MD V Thulasidas as informed by GoAir authorities.
