ANERT to set up solar electric charging station in Kochi
Kochi: Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (ANERT) will soon set up a Solar electric charging station at MC Road and on the national highways in Ernakulam to charge electric vehicles. The plan is to launch solar charging stations in close vicinity of hotels and malls. For this, applications are invited from hotel and mall owners. Five to 50 KW solar panels will be installed at the charging station at an estimated cost of Rs 40 lakh. Of this, Rs 10 lakh will be funded by ANERT.
According to the plan, two types of charging machines will be installed. One takes about an hour on a fast charger and six hours on a slow charger.
CCS (Combined Charging System) with 60 kw power, Shadmo and 22 kW Type 2 AC machine with 142 kW power chargers will be installed.
Up to three vehicles can be charged at a time using solar energy. At the 50 kw charging station, four cars can be charged if electricity is used in addition to solar energy.
At a time, a total of three vehicles can be charged at the rate of Rs 15 per unit and a cost of Rs 5 should be paid to KSEB if electric charging is preferred. Currently, vehicles require 20 to 40 units of electricity for a complete charge.
There will be five charging stations in the first phase of the project in the district. Under the leadership of ANERT, Kochi Metro and EESL (Energy Efficiency Service Limited) will partner in the implementation of the electric charging stations in the district.
