Kannur: Ahead of the opening of Kannur international airport on December 9, Air India Express will start booking of flights from this week. Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is expected to approve the service schedule of Air India Express within two days. According to reports, further steps relating to reservation will be taken once DGCA approves the schedule.
As per the agreement, the first flight of Air India Express will start service to Abu Dhabi from Kannur on December 9. Apart from this, services to Riyadh, Muscat, Dubai, Sharjah and Doha will be operated from here.
Air India Express will operate four international services daily from Kannur.
Sources revealed that details of services operated by Indigo will be confirmed soon. Spice Jet, another airlines, have also sought approval to operate domestic and international services.
KIAL managing director V Thulasi Das will summon a meeting with Spice Jet officials regarding this.
Along with Air India Express, Go Air, another airlines, will start flight service from here on the inaugural day itself.
