79 new flights from Kannur airport by April 15

Air India will start flight services from Kannur airport to New Delhi and Kozhikode on April 1. Indigo will start daily flights to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on March 31.

Mattanur: Air India will start flight services from Kannur airport to New Delhi and Kozhikode on April 1. Air India will operate five flights from Delhi to Kozhikode via Kannur every week.

Indigo will start daily flights to Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram on March 31. Indigo will operate two flights to Kochi and one to Thiruvananthapuram daily.

As many as 79 new international and domestic flight services from Kannur airport will begin operations by April 15.

Kuwait service by Air India Express will commence on April 1. The flights via Bahrain will be operated on Monday and Saturday. From April 2 onwards, AI Express will start services to Muscat. AI Express will start more services to Sharjah and Doha from April. It is already operating more flights to Abu Dhabi.

Go Air will operate additional flights to Hyderabad and Mumbai from March 31 and April 1. Additional flights to Hyderabad will be operated on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Besides the existing 11 pm service, Go Air will operate noon flights to Mumbai. With this, there will be three services per day between Kannur and Mumbai. Go Air is also gearing up to start international services to Dammam.

Indigo will start additional services to Hyderabad and Bengaluru from April.

Hike in ticket prices

There has been a steep increase in international ticket fares from Kannur. The start of summer vacation and cancellation of several services by Jet Airways have reportedly resulted in the hike.

Doha, Sharjah and Riyadh flights, which used to be between Rs 12,000 and Rs 15,000 now coasts between Rs 25,000 and Rs 32,000. Ticket hike is expected in June and July as vacation starts in the Gulf region.
