Thiruvananthapuram: The third edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL 2020) to be held at Kanakakkunnu here from January 30 to February 2 will be witnessing a discussion on how well Indians, especially Keralites, have understood about V K Krishna Menon. Former union minister Jairam Ramesh will talk about him to journalist Varghese K George.
The protests taking place in India and other parts of the world will be a subject of discussion at MBIFL. Former MP M B Rajesh, Adv Jayashankar and writer M Nandakumar will be part of the discussion and N E Sudheer will moderate the discussion.
CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran, writer Civic Chandran, former director of RAW Hormis Tharakan will take part in the discussion on the encounter killing of Maoists. The role of spirituality in life and literature will be discussed by Shoukath Sahajotsu, Kalpetta Narayanan and Ashraf Kadakkal.
Sri Lankan authors Romesh Gunesekera, Shehan Karunatilaka and Amanthi Harris will be talking about their country and the literature while Andrew Fidel Fernando will be the moderator.
The cartoonists are facing a tough time as the government and authorities have started attacking them for the intense criticism conveyed through cartoons. Cartoonists E P Unny, Bony Thomas and Sageer will discuss the topic. Journalist Sunnykutty Abraham will moderate the discussion.
The inefficiency and corruption behind the public infrastructure in the backdrop of Palarivattom flyover also is included as a topic of discussion. PWD minister G Sudhakaran, K Jayakumar, Sridhar Radhakrishnan and K P Ramanunni will be part of this discussion at MBIFL.
The Keralites are witnessing a transition of intense love to brutal revenge. Youngsters take breakup a reason for murdering their ex-lovers. Writer C V Balakrishnan and critic Dr P K Rajasekharan will speak about the issue and author Shahina K Rafeeq will moderate the discussion.
