Mohanlal’s Dasavatharam; 40 years and 10 Characters
Thiruvananthapuram: Celebrated and blessed actor Mohanlal unleashed his feelings and thoughts on his 10 selected characters from his varied sector of movies. It was with his conversation with journalist Sreekanth Kottakal at MBIFL 2020 that he candidly shared his mind.
The selected 10 characters were listed in the consecutive order as; Balagopalan in 'T P Balagopalan M. A', Vincent Gomez in 'Rajavinte Makan', Sethu Madhavan in 'Kireedam', Balan in 'Thazhvaram', Joji in 'Kilukkam', Sathyanadhan in 'Sadayam', Aadu Thoma in 'Sphadikam', Anandan in 'Iruvar', Kunjukkuttan in 'Vanaprastham' and Rameshan Nair in 'Thanmathra'.
The actor mentioned that all these characters were close to his heart though he fondly elaborated more on his characters in 'Sadayam' and 'Vanaprastham'. In 'Sadayam', Sathyanadhan faces the noose and succumbs to death penalty.
The actor recollects his memories of the movie shooting days at Kannur prison and the hanging shoot moments. The then jailor was in tears when the actor was at the hanging scene. He mentioned that the rope that was used for the shoot was a real one which was used to hang a criminal before the movie shoot.
Kunjukkuttan in 'Vanaprastham' showed the Kathakali artist in Mohanlal. The untrained artist worked hard to portray the art form to the acclaims of the legends in Kathakali.
“Puzha Kadannu Pookalude Ideyileykku” – Mohanlal
The interactive session concluded with the book release of the great actor Mohanlal. His book “Puzha Kadannu Pookalude Ideyileykku”was released by director Sathyan Anthikad by presenting the copy to Dr N. V. Pillai in the presence of Mathrubhumi joint managing director M. V. Shreyams Kumar.
