MBIFL 2020 to discuss about stories, Kashmir, earth in 2050 and drug abuse
Thiruvananthapuram: The third edition of Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters (MBIFL 2020) to be held at Kanakakkunnu here from January 30 to February 2 will offer a platform for discussing the impact of drug abuse. Arjun Vysakh who wrote a novel after de-addiction treatment, his father Anil Kumar C, P Vijayan IPS and psychiatrist in medical college Dr S Krishnan will participate in the discussion. R Biju Mohan will moderate the discussion.
Writer T Padmanabhan will converse on stories and story writing based on his experiences with Sreekala Mullassery at the session ‘Kathasarithsagaram’. The present state of Dalits in the society will be discussed by Sunny M Kapikkad, K Sahadevan, K K Kochu and T P Senkumar.
Novelist C Radhakrishnan and poet Alankode Leelakrishnan will talk about the earth in 2050, a concept derived from the anxious minds of people. Meanwhile, the gender bias prevailing on social media will be the topic of discussion for critic Saradakkutty, Geethu Sivakumar, writer P V Shajikumar and Smitha Prabhakar.
Gowhar Geelani from Kashmir will talk about the ongoing crisis in Kashmir. Saba Naqvi and Iffat Fathima also will join him in the talk. Women writers Rose Mary, Lakshmi M L, Rajanandini and Roopa George will discuss about the solo journeys by women.
Veteran journalist Saeed Naqvi will share his experiences of interviewing great personalities from Nelson Mandela to Henry Kissinger in the session ‘From the Titans to Present’ at MBIFL.
The repeating flood havocs in Kerala will be the topic of discussion for Disaster Management Authority principal secretary Dr V Venu, member secretary Dr Sekhar L Kuriakose and architect Dr G Shankar. M P Surendran will be the moderator.
