Hindu terrorism cannot be countered with Muslim terrorism: M.N.Karassery
The reply to Hindu terrorism is not Muslim terrorism or Christian terrorism, opined author, orator and cultural critic M N Karassery. Speaking at Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters 2020 on the topic "Theevravadhikale Uthpadhipikum vidham", he criticised the "la ilaha illallah" slogans being heard in the anti-CAA protests. Religion is not the only identity one has, he said.
Starting the talk with a brief narration of the happenings of the day Mahatma Gandhi was killed, he said that, 30th January being the Martys Day is the apt day to talk on terrorism. "This is the day etched on the pages of world history, as a striking example of terrorism". Again he added that terrorism is not confined to religion alone. Histroy has ample examples like Veluppillai Prakaran and Bal Thackery who went extreme on the lines of language and regionalism.
Then he went on to talk how BJP is trying to wipe out what Jawaharlal Nehru has done in his lifetime and in the 17 years of his Prime Ministership. Quoting Muhammad Ali Jinnah, he said that one thing that Jinnah regretted was the creation of Pakistan. Briefing through the happenings in Middle East, Karassery accused U.S. of being the main sponsors of terrorism. "U.S. has no policy but only interests", he added.
