MBIFL office opens at TVM
Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom minister Kadakampally Surendran inaugurated the festival office of the Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters at Thiruvananthapuram Mathrubhumi office on Thursday. The festival will take place from January 31 to February 3 at Kanakakunnu here.
The minister said that Mathrubhumi has immensely contributed to the literary, cultural and social sectors and the festival of letters is a continuation to the same. He added that the festival will provide a delightful experience to the readers.
The minister inaugurated the distribution of festival kits by handing over one to litterateur Zacharia. Mayor V. K. Prasanth inaugurated the distribution of kit for students by handing it over to MG College student Keerthy and kit for delegates to Beena Janaki Menon. Mathrubhumi Media Solutions National Head P. S. Kamal Krishnan handed over the kit to the minister and the mayor.
Later, the minister flagged off the road show as part of the festival. He flagged off the vehicle by reading ‘Balyakala Sakhi’ by Vaikom Muhammed Basheer on stage. The road show has been organised as a tribute to writer Vaikom Muhammed Basheer.
Author Zacharia opined that Mathrubhumi International Festival of Letters is a confluence of literature and culture. This is a time which we thought of renaissance but actually it is of social backwardness. So, the relevance of the festival of letters only increases, he said.
Festival of Letters Director Sabin Iqbal and Festival Creative Director T. K. Rajeev Kumar also attended the event.
