Ritu Menon is a feminist publisher and writer, with more than a dozen books and scores of academic essay to her credit. She is the author of acclaimed book Borders & Boundaries: Women in India's Partition and is the editor of No Woman's Land: Women from Pakistan, India & Bangladesh Write on the Partition of India. With Zoya Hasan, she has co-authored a three-volume study on the status of Muslim women in India, which include Unequal Citizens: A Study of Muslim Women in India. She was awarded the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2011. She has edited several anthologies of women’s writing in translation; is the publisher of two of the greatest Urdu writers in India, Ismat Chughtai and Qurratulain Hyder.
