Pratibha Ray is one of the tallest fiction writers in India. A recipient of Jnanpith award and Padmashree, she has been writing Novels and Short stories actively in her own mother tongue Odia, for the last 45 years. Her post-doctoral research was on tribalism and criminology of Bondo Highlander, one of the most primitive tribes of Odisha, India. She is the recipient of awards like Odisha Sahitya Akademi Award, Moorti Devi Award and honorary D.Lit by Ravenshaw University, Cuttack & Utkal University of Culture. She has published twenty-one novels, twenty-six short story collections, eleven travelogues on different countries, nine books for children, ten books for neo-literates, two essay collections, one biography in English on Utkal Bharati Kuntala Kumari Sabat, a volume of lyrics and an anthology of poetry, a book on tribal research.
Her autobiography, “Life on Lotus Leaf,” is highly acclaimed.
