Anil Dharker is the Founder and Director of the Mumbai International Literary Festival. He has been Editor of India`s oldest magazine, The Illustrated Weekly of India, as well as of newspapers like The Independent and Mid-day. He is the author of 6 books which includes a book on Mahatma Gandhi`s Dandi March, an anthology, a book on television and a biography of industrialist O P Jindal. He headed the National Film Development Corporation where he enabled the then young film-makers like Vidhu Vinod Chopra, Govind Nihalani, Saeed Mirza, Kundan Shah, Aparna Sen, Gautam Ghosh and Ketan Mehta to make their first films.
