Lotus flower not only offers a visual treat but also provides health benefits. Lotus flowers are usually found in white, pink and blue colours. Lotus is scientifically known as Nelumbo nucifera.
The flower is rich with Vitamin C which is a strong anti-oxidant and can prevent a lot of lifestyle diseases. Lotus flowers contain high amount of iron so that it can cure anaemia.
The presence of phosphorous in lotus flower boosts bone health. It contains Vitamin B as well. Lotus flower is good for improving sexual health and treating heavy menstrual bleeding, anxiety and mental stress.
Drinking water boiled with 3-4 lotus flower petals is good for quenching excessive thirst and overheat. Intake of essence of 50g lotus flower can improve heart condition.
The oil extracted from lotus flower can be used for skin care and treating grey hair. Due to its special aroma, lotus flower is also added as a flavouring agent in cuisine.
