Woman affected with monkey fever dies at Kozhikode Medical College
Mananthavadi (Wayanad): A woman who was diagnosed with Kyasanur Forest disease (KFD - locally known as monkey fever) - died at Kozhikode Medical College where she was being treated. The deceased was identified as Meenakshi (48), wife of Kattikkulam Narangakkunnu native Raju.
The woman was diagnosed with the disease on March 5. A total of 13 persons including Meenakshi were affected with KFD in Wayanad this year. Nine among them completed treatment and three are being treated in hospitals.
Four of them were diagnosed with the disease within last one week. One person is admitted in Kozhikode Medical College, one in Mananthavadi District Hospital and one in a private hospital in Mananthavadi.
