WIMS medical college taken up for COVID treatment
Wayanad: The district collector has issued an order taking up the Wayanad Institute of Medical Sciences (WIMS) medical college for coronavirus treatment. At present, Mananthavadi district hospital is being used as COVID-19 hospital.
WIMS medical college was chosen considering the facilities for treating other chronic diseases like heart diseases. Currently, people of Wayanad are depending on Kozhikode medical college for expert care. But it is impossible to take coronavirus patients to Kozhikode in emergency situations. So, the district administration decided to take up WIMS as COVID hospital.
In addition to this, the district authorities also made arrangements for the movement of goods vehicles from other districts and states. The vehicles to Karnataka should collect pass from Noolpuzha village office and those to Tamil Nadu from Kalpetta village office.
A joint counter of both health and motor vehicle departments has been set up here for the purpose. The necessity of the goods in the vehicle will be decided by the RTO and the health condition of driver and cleaner in the vehicle will be checked by the health officials.
The vehicles should be sanitized at the Kerala border while coming and leaving. The vehicles from other districts which go to Karnataka or Tamil Nadu also should collect new pass from these counters while entering Wayanad district.
