Chickenpox claims 11 lives, affects 16,673 within six months in Kerala
Palakkad: The number of chickenpox cases are increasing day-by-day in the state. The contagious disease has been confirmed in 16,673 persons from January 2019 to June 8. So far, 11 persons died of chickenpox.
In the first week of June, 441 persons sought treatment but no death was reported.
Chickenpox has caused the maximum number of deaths in Kerala among contagious diseases. In the wake of this, health department has issued an alert and will ensure availability of necessary medicines at hospitals. However, the climate change fuels the spread of virus.
