Uxmal (pronounced ‘oosh-mahl') is about 80 km from Merida, the capital city of Yucatan Province. It is an important Maya city and has considerable archaeological interests. A World Heritage site, in Uxmal, the ruins are scattered around in an area of 150 acres. The buildings are prime examples of Puuc style architecture and many of the ruins are well restored.
