Turn leftover rice into tasty cutlets
Here is an easy way to turn leftover rice into cutlets using potatoes.
- Rice: 1 cup
- Potato: 1 large (boiled)
- Onion: 1 (finely chopped)
- Green chilli: 2 nos (finely chopped)
- Ginger paste: 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves: 1 sprig
- Chilli powder: 2 teaspoons
- Garam masala powder: 1 teaspoon
- Black pepper powder: 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Egg: 1 nos
- Breadcrumbs: As per requirement
- Salt: As per taste
- Oil: As per requirement
Heat up 1 tablespoon of oil in a pan and sauté the onions. Add the ginger paste, green chillies, curry leaves and salt. Saute until golden brown. Then add the chilli powder, garam masala powder, black pepper powder and turmeric powder. Sauté until the spices are thoroughly mixed and the becomes dry. Now mash in the boiled potato. Mix well and transfer it into a bowl.
Blend a cup of rice into a fine paste without adding water. Add this into the potato spice mix. Roll them into small balls and press them into desired shapes. Crack the egg into a bowl and beat it well. Take breadcrumbs in another bowl. Heat up oil in a pan. Dip the cutlets in the egg and breadcrumbs before frying. Serve hot with ketchup or mint chutney.
