Spice up tea break with Falafel, the super tasty snack from middle east
After a tiring day, everyone loves to have a cup of tea with a tasty snack in the evening. Here is a delicious middle eastern fast food item that can give you energy. It is a very different combination of chickpea, coriander leaves and spices. Try the recipe.
Chickpeas: 1 cup
Coriander leaves: 2 handsful
Garlic: 5 cloves
Onion: one small
Cumin seed powder: 3/4 teaspoon
Coriander powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Chilly powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Green chilly: 3-4
Pepper powder: 1/2 teaspoon
Baking Soda: 1/2 teaspoon
Lemon juice: 1 tablespoon
First soak chickpeas for 24 hours and then drain it well. Then add finely chopped onion and green chilly, garlic cloves, coriander leaves, salt, cumin seed powder, coriander powder, black pepper, chilly powder, salt and baking soda. Mix them well.
Then put the mixture in a food processor and pulse it. The mixture should be processed into a rough consistency, and not smooth like a paste. Then pour the mixture into a bowl. Now cover the bowl tightly with a plastic wrap and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Once the falafel mixture is taken out of fridge, roll it into round balls with palm. Heat oil in a deep pan. Then fry the falafel balls till they turn golden brown outside. After frying well, place falafels on a paper towel to remove excess oil. Then serve the falafels fresh and hot.
