Munch on homemade crispy murukku
Crispy murukku is one of the best snack items to have with tea or coffee. Here is how to make it at home.
- Rice flour: 2 cups
- Gram flour: 1/2 cup
- Roasted gram powder: 1/4 cup
- Asafoetida powder: 1/4 teaspoon
- Sesame or cumin seeds: 1 teaspoon
- Butter: 3 teaspoons
- Chilli powder: 1/2 teaspoon
- Salt: As per requirement
- Water: As per requirement
Add all the flours and powders into a bowl and mix well using a spoon. Add salt and sesame or cumin seeds. Melt the butter and pour it into the flour mix. Apply oil on the palms. Pour in water in the flour to make a dough in the consistency of idiyappam. Use a murukku or idiyappam maker to roll out the dough in desired shapes. (Do it quickly to ensure that the dough does not go dry). Deep fry them on a medium heat. Enjoy.
