Make crispy, crunchy murukku with maida
Murukku is a crunchy snack that is loved by everyone. Here is how to make murukku at home in no time.
- Oil: For deep frying
- Maida: 2 cups
- Water: As per requirement
- Salt: As per taste
- Turmeric powder: 1 small teaspoon
- Chilli powder: 1 teaspoon
- Asafoetida powder: 1 pinch
(Water from half a coconut can be used instead of plain water to make Murukku a little bit sweeter)
Steam cook the maida for 10 minutes using a steaming pot or idli maker. Let it cool down to normal temperature. The transfer the maida into a bowl and mix well to break it apart. Add salt, turmeric powder and water/coconut water and make a fine paste. Heat up oil in a deep pan and pour in the murukku paste in desired shapes using murukku/idiyappam maker. Deep fry until golden brown.
