Street food shop by students in Alappuzha to raise money for a cause
Thuravoor: A group of students from a private institution here have started a street food shop to raise money for the treatment of their classmate’s sister.
Hotel management students from Sree Gokulam Group of Institutions at Valamangalam here in Alappuzha district have started a street food shop on the side of the national highway here.
Once classes conclude at 4 pm, they head straight to the food stall. They will take turns making dosa, porotta and curries till 12 at night.
Money collected from selling food will be used to help Aishwarya (28), sister of one of the students at the institution. Aishwarya is undergoing treatment at Ernakulam Medical Trust hospital for a renal ailment.
Only a kidney transplant can save her life. Aishwarya’s family friend is ready to donate a kidney but the surgery would cost Rs 20 lakh.
Aishwarya’s parents have raised Rs 7 lakh by mortgaging their house and property at a bank. An account has been opened at State Bank of India (SBI) Kottayam Medical College branch.
