Aloo gobi is a traditional dish using potato and cauliflower which is very popular among vegetarians. Here is how to make restaurant style aloo gobi at home.
Ingredients
- Oil: 2 tablespoons
- Cumin: 1/4 teaspoon
- Ginger-garlic paste: 1 tablespoon
- Onion: 1 nos (finely sliced)
- Green chilli: 1 nos (finely sliced)
- Potato: 2 nos (chopped)
- Cauliflower: 1 nos (chopped)
- Chilli powder: 3/4 teaspoon
- Garam masala: 1 teaspoon
- Coriander powder: 3/4 teaspoon
- Turmeric powder: 1/4 teaspoon
- Kasuri Methi (dried fenugreek leaves): 1 teaspoon
- Coriander leaves: 1 sprig
- Lemon juice: 1 teaspoon (optional)
Preparation
Heat up two tablespoons of oil in a pan and crackle the cumin seeds. Add the ginger garlic paste and sauté for 1 minute. Add the onion and green chilli. Cook until soft. Then add the potatoes and sauté for 2-3 minutes. Add some water and let it cook. Once the potatoes are cooked halfway, add the cauliflower and salt. Continue to cook. Add chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder and turmeric powder. Mix well and continue to cook with the lid on. Once the potatoes and cauliflower are cooked, add the Kasuri Methi. Add more salt if needed. Cook for 3-5 minutes and take it off the heat. Garnish with coriander leaves and lime juice. Aloo gobi is ready.
