Similar to chicken, duck is a delicacy of non-vegetarians. Several people visit Kuttanad to taste their traditional duck dishes. Here is a traditional duck curry recipe that is so easy to prepare, you would want to try it at home.
Duck meat: 1 kilogram
Ginger: 1 large piece
Garlic: 10 cloves
Turmeric powder: ¼ teaspoon
Chili powder: 1 teaspoon
Black Pepper (corns): 1 teaspoon
Fennel powder: 1 teaspoon
Curry leaves: 2 leaflets
Coconut milk (first extract): 1 cup
Coconut milk (second extract): 2 cups
Salt: as per taste
In a pan, cook the duck meat in the second extract of coconut milk along with chili powder, turmeric powder and salt.
Then crush and add the shallots, garlic, ginger and pepper to his along with fennel powder.
Let the curry come to a boil. Then add in the sliced onions and tomatoes let it boil for some time. Once the meat is tender, mix in the first extract of coconut milk and curry leaves and take it off the flame.
Delicious duck curry is ready.
