Dishes cooked in clay pots have a special taste. If its fish curry, there is nothing like it. Here is a mouth-watering fish curry recipe that must be prepared in a clay pot only.
King fish: 500 grams (large pieces)
Ginger: 2 tablespoons (finely chopped)
Garlic: 2 tablespoons (finely chopped)
Green chilli: 4 nos (finely chopped)
Onion: 1 nos (finely chopped)
Tomato: 2 nos (finely chopped)
Tamarind water: ½ cup
Curry leaves: 2 leaflets
Shallots: 2 tablespoons (crushed)
Salt: As per taste
Coconut oil: ½ cup
Coconut milk: ½ cup (1st extract)
Chilli powder: 2 tablespoons
Turmeric powder: 1 tablespoon
Fenugreek: 1 pinch
In a clay pot, heat up some coconut oil and sauté the fenugreek and ginger. Add the tomato and onion and sauté until golden brown. Then add the chilli powder and turmeric powder. Once the spices are mixed well, add in the tamarind water. Once the water comes to a boil, add the fish anc cook on a low flame for 10 minutes. Then add the coconut milk and cook until the gravy thickens. Then take it off the heat and keep it to one side.
In another pot, heat up some oil and sauté the shallots and curry leaves until golden brown. Add some chilli powder and mix well. Pour this over the fish curry prepared earlier and mix well. Fish curry is ready to serve.
