Even those who don’t know how to cook can be confident about making bread toasts. What makes it so universally popular is that there isn’t much to do and it fills you up quite well. Here is how you can spice up your breakfast with masala bread toast.
Bread: 4 slices
Onion: 1 nos (thinly sliced)
Carrot: ½ cup (thinly sliced)
Cabbage: ½ cup (thinly sliced)
Capsicum: ½ cup (thinly sliced)
Tomato: 1 nos (thinly sliced)
Cumin seeds: As per requirement
Chili powder: 1 teaspoon (thinly sliced)
Turmeric powder: ½ teaspoon
Garam masala: 1 teaspoon
Tomato ketchup: 1 teaspoon
Green chili: 2 nos (thinly sliced)
Salt: As per taste
Fresh coriander leaves: As per requirement (finely chopped)
Heat up some oil in a pan and add the cumin seeds. Then add the onions and green chili and sauté until they soften. Then add in the cabbage, capsicum and carrot and mix well. Add salt as per taste and mix well.
Once they are cooked, add the tomatoes. Once the mixture is cooked properly, add the chili powder, turmeric powder and garam masala. Mix well and cook for a minute. Then add the tomato ketchup. Add more salt if required. Then add the coriander leaves and keep it aside.
In another pan, toast the bread slices in butter, ghee or oil. Add the masala to the bread slices and serve.
This spicy masala bread toast will taste equally good as a breakfast item or a tea time snack.
