This startup by Ritvik, Akash helps you enter the world of stocks
Ritvik Vipin and Akash Jayan ventured into stock market trading during their final year of college. Hailing from middle-class families in Kerala, the duo looked at trading as a means to secure financial independence. However, they realized soon that the journey was not going to be an easy ride and that watching stock market trading videos on YouTube alone was not going to help them reap profits. The lack of practical knowledge in the field and the absence of a good mentor meant that Ritvik and Akash had to suffer a few losses early in their trading career.
“The fake strategies and indicators provided by trade gurus did not assist me in making salutary results. In fact, the loss of money led to mental trauma”, said Thalassery native Ritvik Vipin. But things became easier for him when he found his trading partner in Akash, who was also his roommate in college. Akash was already interested in trading and together, both started learning new tricks in the trade.
This was five years ago. Today both Ritvik and Akash are running a successful community trading platform, called Havenspire. Through this start-up, they provide classes to other trading enthusiasts and aim to create a platform where traders can communicate with each other and discuss possible entry points and make stock market trading a fun and interactive space.
“Things became easier when both of us started trading together. We began to explore different avenues of trade and that is how we thought of having a community for trading. A platform for a group of people with similar interests” said Akash.
What started out as a small community in their college hostel room has now spread across to 15 countries, with 1,500 members under them. Within two years in its inception, the Bengaluru-based startup has been able to make its own distinctive mark in the field of trading. What sets Havenspire apart from its counterparts is its mentorship program. A team of 15 mentors will help the community members with their doubts, trading setups and will correct them when mistakes are made. The members of this community include college students and professionals.
Akash, CEO of Havenspire, opined that the Indian educational system often disregards the significance of financial independence and that each student who has enrolled in Havenspire has been able to learn the trade and secure financial independence.
Similar to other online education platforms around the world, Havenspire also has been picking up a lot of steam during this pandemic as more people are willing to invest their time to learn something new.
“People around the world got confined to the four walls of their homes during this pandemic and the work from home schedule has given them a lot of time. This enticed people to invest their time in doing something productive and stock market trading is one of them” remarked Ritvik, Chairman of Havenspire.
Stock market trading is increasingly becoming a more inclusive space with more number of professionals and students across the globe willing to try their hands on it. Another important trend that has developed in recent years is the active participation of women in trading. "The number of women entering the stock market in the past was much less. But of late, more number of women have contacted us and expressed their desire to trade. This is an excellent trend. We look forward to more women excel in this field and attain financial independence" Akash stated.
