Munnar

Munnar: The minimum temperature of Munnar dropped below zero degree Celsius for the first time in this season by cladding the hill station with snowflakes. Extreme cold weather has been reported in the regions, including Chenduvara and Vattavada.

In December 2022, temperatures were not considerably lower than the previous year. However, a bitter cold is expected to hit Munnar in the middle of January.

Heavy snowfall was reported near the KTDC Tea County resort and the tea plantations here on Wednesday morning. Farmers are worried about whether the snowfall will affect tea production.

Minus two degree celsius has been reported at Chenduvara factory division, while the temperature dropped to zero degree celsius in Devikulam. This resulted in the meadows and trees in these regions being covered in snow, attracting more tourists.

Munnar expects an increased inflow of tourists in view of the intensifying snowfall in the locality.
