Wayanad: Vythiri river tourism project, which would be a jewel in the crown of Wayand tourism will soon kick start in the district. The project will focus on the one kilometre long boat ride from 12th bridge check dam to Kunnathupalam.
In the initial phase, Rs 50 lakh has been granted from the state government’s project that was launched to set up a tourist centre in each panchayat, and Rs 30 lakh has been approved from the local fund of Vythiri panchayat. Rs 1.5 crore has been estimated as the total expense of the project which will be implemented within 18 months.
A boat jetty will be built near the check dam in the initial phase while a children's park, light park, and a hanging bridge will be constructed in the second phase.

Six pedal boats that can carry four persons and four pedal boats that can occupy two persons will be launched as part of the Vythiri river tourism project. The entrance gates will be built near 12th bridge in Vythiri- Padinjarathara road and Vattavayal in Vythiri.
