Cantilever glass bridge at the Vagamon Adventure Park
Thodupuzha: No need to visit China or Dubai to experience the thrill of standing at an elevated level and looking down into the depths of an abyss. This can be experienced in Kolahalamedu in Idukki’s Vagamon. The longest glass bridge in India that will become the metaphor for adventure will be opened for tourists on Wednesday.
The bridge has been constructed at the Adventure park in Vagamon, under the aegis of District Tourism Promotion Council with private partnership. Tourism Minister P.A Mohammed Riyas will be inaugurating the Cantilever glass bridge at 5 PM on Wednesday.
The bridge is 40 meters long. This is an opportunity to experience the thrill of adventure for kids and adults alike.
At a time, 15 people can walk along the 120 feet long bridge. A maximum time of 5-10 minutes will be allotted to each group. The fee is Rs 500 for an individual, regardless of age. The restrictions have been put in place to control the rush.
Other exciting activities available here include sky swing, sky cycling, sky roller, rocker ejector, free fall, giant swing and zip line. This glass bridge at a height of 3500 feet above sea level will elevate the tourism sector of Vagamon and Idukki.
Walking along the glass bridge and looking at the deep abyss at the edge of the bridge is sure to get one’s heart thumping. Nevertheless, beyond the fear lies an unforgettable thrilling experience. The bird’s eye view of Mundakayam, Koottickal and Kokkayar regions will surely excite tourists.
This bridge was jointly built by DTPC and Perumbavoor-based Bharat Mata Ventures. The total cost of the bridge is estimated at Rs 3 crores. It required 35 tonnes of steel and a special glass imported from Germany.
