Athirapally: As the number of tourists increased, the Athirapally view point opened on Monday morning for visitors to admire the beauty of the waterfalls. But due to heavy rush of visitors, the authorities cancelled permission to visit the view point and closed it soon.
Fights are a common feature between the visitors and forest guards as the latter restrict entry. This led the authorities to give permission to view the waterfall from the view point.
At Athirapally, the tourists leave their vehicles near the ticket counter and take a walk to reach the view point. People rushed to Athirapally on Monday as news of its opening spread. The astounding view of waterfall overflowing due to heavy rain was another reason that attracted tourists even at the peak time of pandemic.
