Kozhikode: Tour operators have launched special travel packages to visit late Congress veteran Oommen Chandy’s tomb located at St George Church, Puthuppally in Thiruvananthapuram. As per reports, a trip organised by Viswasree Tour & Travels in Thiruvananthapuram will depart from Attingal at 6 am on Saturday. It is learnt that several other travel agencies are also planning to launch similar services from other parts of the state too.

“We (Viswasree Tour & Travels) have arranged a 49-seater bus for the journey. We have been receiving positive response and expect full booking,” owner S Prashanthan told mathrubhumi.com.

The booking charge is Rs 500 per person and the passengers should bear the cost of food and other expenses in the 150-kilometre long journey. “We are ready to provide free services to those who are unable to find money for the trip,” Prashanthan added.

According to Prashanthan, who is also the general secretary of contract carriage operators’ association, Puthuppally church is a place acceptable for people of all faiths, just like Sivagiri in Varkala and hence there are possibilities of organising trips other than pilgrimages too.
