Temperature touches zero degree Celsius in Munnar


As the temperature dipped to zero degree Celsius, Kannimala, Lakshmi, Munnar town and Ellapetty received snowfall in the wee hours on Saturday.

Munnar: The temperature in Munnar dipped to zero degree Celsius for the first time in this winter season. Munnar town, Lakshmi, Ellapetty and Kannimala areas recorded zero degree Celsius on Saturday morning.

At the same time, the minimum temperature touched 2 degrees Celsius at Sevanmala, Nallathanni and Silent Valley on Saturday. Mattupetty and Kundala recorded 3 degree Celsius.

As the temperature dipped to zero degree Celsius, Kannimala, Lakshmi, Munnar town and Ellapetty received snowfall in the wee hours on Saturday. The grassy lands were seen covered with snow.

According to reports, the temperature will touch minus degrees in the coming days.

From January 1 to 11, temperature in the hill areas including Munnar touched minus 4 degrees Celsius. As severe cold is continuing, large number of tourists started to flock to Munnar.
