Erattupetta: The reconstruction of the Erattupetta-Vagamon road, which aims to boost tourism in the region, has been successfully completed.

The road had been in a dilapidated condition for more than 10 years. In October 2021, administrative approval was granted for the reconstruction of the road. The technical approval was given in December 2021.

The contract was signed in February 2022 for Rs 16.87 crore. The plan was to complete the work within six months. However, the contractor was removed following lapses and fresh tenders were invited.

The Uralungal Labour Contract Co-operative Society completed work within four months.

The road will be inaugurated on Wednesday by Tourism Minister PA Mohamed Riyas at a ceremony chaired by Minister VN Vasavan at 4 pm.

“The renovation works have been completed after withstanding numerous challenges. I am taking part in the happiness of the people,” said Minister Riyas.
