Idukki: Vagamon, which was until now known for the mist that enveloped its lush green mountains, will from now on become a hub for adventure-seeking tourists. Vagamon has secured an exalted position among tourists spots around the world with Minister for Public Works and Tourism P.A Mohamed Riyas inaugurating India’s longest Cantilever model glass bridge here on Wednesday. Tourists can get tickets and visit the glass bridge from Thursday onwards.
The inaugural event held at the Adventure Park was presided over by MLA Vazhoor Soman. District Collector Sheeba George, Bharat Mata Ventures Managing Director Jomy Poonly, MLA M.M Mani, Kerala tourism infrastructure Chairman C.V Varghese, Block Panchayat President P Malathi and others spoke on the occasion.

Lush grasslands, barren hills, pine forest, mist-engulfed valleys and various other picturesque landscapes make Vagamon a tourist favourite. Pleasant weather throughout the year is an added bonus to those who come here seeking a respite from mainland heat.
The bridge has been constructed at the Adventure park in Vagamon, under the aegis of District Tourism Promotion Council and a private partnership with the Kiki stars of Bharat Mata Ventures. There was strong wind and rain in Vagamon since 3 PM on Wednesday and the organisers were worried about the smooth conduct of the inauguration scheduled at 5 PM.
However, Minister Riyas remained unfettered and hopped into an off-road jeep despite the rain and fog. After cutting the ribbon, the Minister spent about 15 minutes on the bridge, taking in the sights and posing for pictures with tourists and locals who had gathered there. The Minister got into the off-road jeep to return to the conference venue but the jeep got stuck in the mud. With this, Riyas got down and walked the rest of the way.
The adventure park is located at Kolahalamedu, four kilometers away from Vagamon.
