Major Ravi flagging off the trip
Kozhikode: Actor-director Major Ravi flagged off the all-India bike trip of Vadakara Vallikkad native Rajeesh Paleri and his family here on Saturday. The family are in a novel attempt to show solidarity to Indian soldiers. The family members in two motorcycles have started their journey from Kozhikode beach to Kashmir, and will be covering Mangaluru, Goa, Maharashtra and Punjab.
Being monsoon, there was showers during the flag off ceremony but the family is determined to complete the trip braving harsh climatic conditions, heavy rain, scorching heat or freezing cold. Paleri’s wife Shaija and children Vaishnav and Nihara share the same spirit. According to them, their attempt is nothing compared to the struggle of soldiers who guard the nation in spite of challenging climatic conditions. Their cousins and friends were present to convey their greetings.
They are covering the stretch in a bullet and a Yezdi Adventure bike. The plan is to complete the trip within 35 days by covering 250 to 350 kilometres a day. They have booked places for accommodation before the journey. The family has planned to visit the major military camps, monuments of the martyred soldiers and the military officers who were injured in attacks. As a prelude, the family had honoured the soldiers in their panchayat a few days before beginning their journey. After staying at Kargil and Ladakh, they will head to Delhi through the Manali route.
